Know as the Crab Nebula, this photo shows the expanding debris from a massive star explosion. It was first noticed 913 years ago and is expanding at almost 1000 mph. Even though the Crab is in our celestial neighborhood, it’s no threat to Earthlings. It’s about 6500 light-years away or around 3800 trillion miles.
